Not a good axle to use for a swap!  This axle uses a different cover, and the vacuum disconnect is with in the housing.

1974 - 1980 Scout II 1974-1980  WMS 60.5"  Spring pads = 31"

800 Tapered D44--54.75"
800 Flanged D44--56.75"
There are at least two versions of the 80/800 tapered rear D44. Centered diff and offset diff. I have been told that the offset diff was only used on 1967 model year but kinda doubt the truth of that. Tapered was used up through the 1968 model year, changeover with the 1969 800A model. Measurement of 54.75" WMS taken on an offset diff 1967 axle. 19-spline carrier. Some have a plug in the bottom of the diff.

The 1969-1971 800A/B's used a flanged D44. 30-spline carrier, same brakes as early Scout II D44's. Used a tiny vent-hole in the back of the axle-shaft housing, instead of a threaded vent on top like the SII's. Brake line attaches with a diff cover bolt.

Scout II rear D44 changed brakes in 1974. Wider, with a deeper recess on the backing plate. I "think" ALL Scout II rear D44's are 58" WMS, but don't know for positive about the pre-74 one's. Axle vent integrated with attach point for brake line.
