My attempt at a Rad Guard for Jeep CJ's. (YJ's and TJ's could be done the same way)

First Step you need to remover your radiator and any coolers
you might have in your grill. Picture shows radiator removed.
Sure is a lot of space in-between those grill slots.
|

You need to droop the front wiring loom that is at the top of the grill. Use a needle nose pliers to compress the plastic sticking out the top of the grill. Do note you'll need to drill a new 3/16" hole to relocate the center wire loom holder. Drill the hole back 1.5" from the stock location. |

With the radiator removed take a piece of paper and trace the back side of your grill. Trace paper to the metal flooring, cut along your lines but leave extra material for the top and bottom. Measure twice... |

Showing the lip at the top. ~2.5" How you bend the metal will affect the fit. I recommend several test fits and trims if your making your own. |

Showing the ~1" lip at the bottom. To bend the lip at the top and bottom I used a simple pliers and bent each 1/2" at least three times to make 90 degrees. Double check your measurements, if everything looks good paint your metal. Back side shown. |

Picture shows the Rad
Guard cut.
That is thick 13 gauge metal! The wire loom is moved out of the way, top placed in first. |

Test fit shown, grill removed for better visibility for picture. With the top in slid the bottom into position. To fit the bottom you'll need a crowbar or other device to fit over the two sides of the bottom Jeep grill. A simple snap over this small protrusion and it should be sitting nice. |
| Picture of Bolt Holes. | Do note the grill will hold it self in perfect position, However you will need to bolt it into place. Drill three holes on the bottom and three for the top. The Rad Guard kit comes with 6 1/4" bolts and nut's, install them. Additionally you will get 6 strong zip ties to secure the center. |

| The Rad Guard kit installed! Pictured without
radiator to show the he Rad Guard! With radiator in the he Rad Guard almost completely disappears.
